Most employees will use a standardised performance evaluation form based on predetermined criteria, while senior-level employees (Executive and above) engage in structured goal-setting discussions with specific key performance indicators. At the end of the financial year, these goals are evaluated through a formal appraisal process, beginning with employee self-assessments and followed by evaluations from direct supervisors and one-up managers. In parallel with year-end appraisals, all business units are encouraged to conduct career development discussions with performing and potential employees to explore employees’ short- and long-term career aspirations. The Company upholds a merit-based approach to employee remuneration. Rewards, including salary increments, performance-linked bonuses, and career advancement opportunities are aligned with both the Company’s financial performance and individual appraisal outcomes. Occupational Safety and Health Performance • Zero fatalities and achieved a 25.4% improvement in LTIFR safety performance compared to the previous financial year • ISO 45001:2018 certification has been attained by 17.6% of QL business units, with Boilermech Sdn. Bhd. being the most recent to receive certification • A significant 41.6% increase in total incidents reported, demonstrated heightened employees’ engagement, greater awareness, and a stronger emphasis on the importance of incident reporting • 4,250 employees trained in safety and health standards, an increase of 22.1% from previous year reporting, evidenced of QL ongoing focus to promote education and training for our employees Our Approach At QL, the safety, health and well-being of our employees, contractors and business associates are more than a priority, it is a core value embedded in every aspect of our operations. By fostering a safe, healthy, and conducive work environment, we aim to prevent occupational injuries and illnesses, ultimately enhancing efficiency and productivity. Through consistent performance analysis, taking proactive actions, engaging leaders and employees, our aim is not only to comply with legal requirements but to exceed industry standards and set a benchmark for excellence in workplace safety and health. OSH 19.85 26.39 Male Female Our Occupational Safety and Health Management, Governance and Accountability Structure Our Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) management, governance and accountability structure is designed to ensure the agreed standards of safety and health are implemented and practiced across all levels of our organisation. The structure outlines clear roles and responsibilities, facilitating effective communication and coordination among management, employees, and OSH committees. It supports proactive identification and mitigation of risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement. By integrating OSH into our core business processes, we demonstrate our unwavering commitment to protecting our workforce and promoting a safe and healthy work environment across all our businesses. Upholding Our Occupational Safety and Health Policy Commitment Following the revision and enhancement of our Occupational Safety and Health Policy last financial year, a marked cultural shift has occurred, evidenced by increased engagement from both management and employees in OSH activities. This development underscores our commitment to continuous improvement in workplace safety. As part of ongoing efforts to fulfil our policy commitment, we maintain our focus in conducting our business operations safely and healthily by continuously implementing and reviewing existing risks and controls, enhancing our processes, work practices, and systems to create a safer work environment. In ensuring that everyone associated with our organisation upholds our OSH policy, we prioritise consistent communication, along with ongoing education and training. These efforts foster awareness and contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for all. To strengthen our OSH Policy commitment, QL has appointed Safety and Health Officers at each business unit, and trained 133 OSH Coordinators to help promote, implement, and monitor safety and health practices across the workplace. Driving Continuous Improvement in Occupational Safety and Health Management QL Group’s safety and health management system and practices are fully aligned with the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994, the Occupational Safety and Health (Amendment) Act 2022, and the ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Safety and Health Management System standard. QL reaffirms our commitment to advancing our safety journey by progressively certifying all operating sites to the ISO 45001:2018 Safety Management System standard. Many business units are actively developing robust OSH management systems aligned with ISO 45001:2018 with the goal of obtaining formal certification in the near future. This year, we are proud to announce that our subsidiary, Boilermech Sdn. Bhd., has successfully achieved ISO 45001:2018 certification accreditation through LRQA. As of now, 17.6% of QL’s business units have been certified to the ISO 45001:2018 Safety Management System standard.
